What can I say about a masterpiece that’s has been discussed and described so many times?
I can say my opinion!

The Witcher 3

Story

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

The story is what makes the game so good - diaglous, storylines, npcs, quests, they all give uniquness to the game.

Gameplay

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Gameplay in a sense if the degree of interactivity of the player with the story and the game - for the Witcher 3 CD Project Red did incredible job in making interactions matter, choices matter, builds matter.

Map design

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Some areas feel bulky - I had to run around them too much, I think what was missing the most is more outposts to quick travel to some locations - a real “Life enhancer”.
However that’s no reason to grant it 4 stars - The amazing views, the depth of the water, the scary caves - all of them combined gives a beautiful sense to the game.

Combat

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

The overall combat mechanism is great and I've never felt I need to be very skilled to accomplish tricks.

There are many builds and many items to craft, however most of the players go for the witcher gear which is why I gave it 4 stars.

Other items were weaker and only once I traded few items for witcher gear, at the end I’ve finished with the Cat grand-master build.

A good point to make - They fixed some of these issues by adding special effects for swords by additional enchantments.
This gives a good feeling when you fight with the new enchantments.

Graphics

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Good art, Good texturing, Great lightning.

Audio

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

I didn’t feel like there much more to add on audio - GFX, combat, npcs and music.
The music is astonishing, very focusing and beautiful.

Storyline

I’ve also read the books - The story of the Witcher makes up for a great fantasy of magic, power, love, friendship, and mystery.
Originally written by Andrzej Sapkowski - a polish writer.
The games were made by CD Projekt Red.

The story surrounds around Geralt the Witcher - a killer of monsters for coin.
A vacation that is declining because of how good they are :)

The games are an alternative ending to the books - I won’t spoiler them but most of the readers didn’t like how The Witcher has ended.

There are 3 games after the books, The Witcher 1, 2 and 3.

Characters

Geralt

The main protagonist, a witcher by vocation - slayer of monsters for coin.
Geralt is one of the oldest witchers alive by his times.
Witchers are mutated humans that has incredible physical abilities.

They are great wrarriors, can use basic magic called “signs” and also brew for themselves potions to enhance their abilities.

They possess great knowledge of monsters, fiends, ghosts and more type of evil.

Geralt is very special since he has a strong motive of being a “white knight” - Just like his name suggests “The White Wolf”.
Also knighted by a queen - “Geralt of Rivia”.

Yennefer

A powerful sorcerer that is entangled in Geralt’s life by a wish he has made.

Yennefer of Vengerberg posses vast magical abilities and potion brewing abilities.
Powerful sorcerers aren’t “born” with the abilities - they need to learn, improve and study very hard to become powerful.

Yeneffer’s past isn’t revealed to us - only in the TV Series they write about how Yeneffer became a sorcerer.
However, even if they aren’t born powerful, to become a sorcerer they need to possess the slightest magical abilities and develop them.

Ciri

Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon,
Cirilla of Cintra,
The Lady of Time and Space,
Princess of Cintra,
Lion cub of Cintra,
Adopted daughter of Geralt and Yennefer,
Zirael.

Telling more about Ciri will put more spoilers and I don’t want to spoil this to anybody.

She’s a fierce warrior with magical skills and Witcher skills - But she wasn’t mutated like Geralt.
A hardheaded girl with a strong heart, Following her quest in lines of beautiful quests and stories, Ciri is the answer to the long destiny that has been awaited the world.

Dandelion (Jaskier)

Geralt’s best friend, a poet, bard, kind of an asshole, very comical.
Dandelion’s most famous ballads are about Geralt and Yennefer.

From the TV Series, there’s a famous song about Geralt written by Jaskier:

Triss Merigold

Triss is another sorcerer entangled in Geralt’s life - a powerful ally, helps to protect and work with Ciri.
She’s like an older sister to Ciri.
Also, Don’t let them know I told you that, she’s in love with Geralt.

Extension Packs

The Witcher 3 is a complete story and by the end of it you’ll finish the full story.

Hearts of Stone

HoS adds new quests for a mysterious man.
It reveals new details on some older characters, present new ones and gets you on a complete new stories - A must to have.

10+ hours of gameplay.

Blood and Wine

Thie extension leads you to Toussaint, a beautiful autumn like map.
This extension grants you new mechanics as well : Deying armor, mutations and New Game+.
Which gives you a fancy game reset.

20+ hours of gameplay.

The Witcher 3 wasn’t the perfect game it is when it came out, but by feedback, many patches and a lot of work by CD Project Red it is indeed one of the best games I’ve played.

A true masterpiece any fan of RPG games needs to experience.
